Multistrat installation ruleThe grey contact face is placed against the surface, and the aluminium is oriented towards the air. On the aluminium side, an air layer of at least 5 mm is maintained for maximum performance.

Intelligent construction

Reflectiva Multistrat is recommended for insulation carried out inside buildings. It controls heat transfer, protects the bulk insulation and reduces the effect of thermal bridges.

The pure aluminium face

Reflectivity 95–97%, emissivity 0.05. The aluminium stays in contact with the air, with a layer of at least 5 mm. If it is placed against a soft, air-permeable surface such as insulation wool, performance is not affected to any significant extent.

The grey contact face

A layer of expanded polyethylene that is applied directly onto surfaces with temperatures of up to 80 °C: plasterboard, OSB, fibre cement, brick, concrete, metal or wood.

Membrane structure

Multistrat is obtained by laminating a 110 my bubble film. A 24 my aluminium film is applied on the top of the bubbles, of which 7 my is pure aluminium and 17 my is an LDPE lamination layer, while an expanded polyethylene film is applied on the opposite side. The assembly works as a vapour barrier and complements the performance of the bulk insulation installed between rafters, studs or beams.

Applications and installation

A universal membrane for interiors

Multistrat is the universal interior component of System 10. It is installed in two phases and can be used in attic rooms, lofts, walls, ceilings and claddings on rigid substrates.

1Before Gold, in a double layer

In the System 10 Medium, Medium+, Premium and Premium+packages, Multistrat is installed as a double layer before Gold, with the aluminium facing the exterior. The double layer raises the thermal level of the assembly.

The membrane is extended approximately 10 cm onto the walls and fixed with the perimeter profile.
After the profile is fixed, it is cut to dimension M for the installation of the interior cladding.
Gold is installed afterwards, according to the package configuration.

2Under the profiles, before cladding

In all System 10 packages, Multistrat is installed under the structure of metal profiles or battens, before plasterboard, timber panelling or any other cladding.

The aluminium face is oriented towards the air layer. The membrane closes the air envelope, and the joints are sealed with Power Tape.

System 10 Renofit

On brick and concrete, the contact face is applied directly onto the substrate in Phase 1. Maximum configuration: double layer of Multistrat + air cavity, optionally filled with Wolle P800 + Multistrat in Phase 2.

OSB claddings

The recommended option is on the inner face of the OSB, with the aluminium facing the interior, towards the air layer. The last layer is sealed with Power Tape.

Recommended option on OSB

After the OSB board is installed on the inner side of the rafters, Multistrat is applied on the inner face. It can be used in several layers. The metal profiles or battens follow, then another Multistrat with the aluminium facing the air layer, sealed.

Conditional option between OSB and rafters

Installation with the aluminium facing the exterior is used only if the OSB is over 25 mm and the exterior allows vapour diffusion. The condition is rarely met and must be assessed for each project.

Other applications: behind radiators, in roof structures under the roof covering and in Premium configurations completed with Silver or Bronze. Several layers can be used for higher performance, but the last one is always sealed with Power Tape.

Multistrat or Gold?

Reflectiva Multistrat

One pure aluminium face and one contact face. It is applied directly onto plasterboard, OSB, brick, concrete, metal or wood. It is the membrane of the interior phases: on rigid claddings, before Gold and under the profile structure.

Reflectiva Gold

Two pure aluminium faces. Both reflect and, in principle, require an air layer. In certain configurations, one of the faces may come into contact with the insulation or with the contact face of the Multistrat membrane.

They are not competing products. In the System 10 Medium–Premium+ packages, Multistrat and Gold work together, each in the position it was built for.

A universal membrane for interiors

Multistrat is the universal interior component of System 10. It is installed in two phases and can be used in attic conversions, unconverted attics, walls, ceilings and claddings on rigid substrates.

1Before Gold, in a double layer

In the System 10 Medium, Medium+, Premium and Premium+ packages, Multistrat is installed as a double layer before Gold, with the aluminium facing the exterior. The double layer raises the thermal level of the assembly.

The membrane is extended approximately 10 cm onto the walls and fixed with the perimeter profile.
After the profile is fixed, it is cut to dimension M for the installation of the interior cladding.
Gold is installed afterwards, according to the package configuration.

2Under the profiles, before cladding
